Claire Goldsmith: A New Generation of Style

Claire Goldsmith, great-granddaughter of Oliver Goldsmith, one of the most influential designers of modern day eyewear in the 20th century, is bringing a new generation of stylish and sophisticated eyewear to Occhiali.

Who was Oliver Goldsmith?

The Oliver Goldsmith brand has been a family-run business for over 80 years. Founded in 1926 by P. Oliver Goldsmith, OG revolutionized the eyewear industry and pioneered the concept of sunglasses and spectacles as fashion accessories. In the second half of the 20th century, when it came to eyewear, the name Oliver Goldsmith was synonymous with celebrity and style. Film and fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly and fashion houses like Dior and Givenchy all coveted OG eyewear for their collections. Many of the original OG designs can be seen in the classic films of the 1950s and ‘60s, including the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The Goldsmith family has kept this legacy of sophistication alive by continuing to create exceptional, high-fashion eyewear for three generations.

Claire Goldsmith: The New Generation

Inspired by her family’s legacy, Claire Goldsmith launched a new generation of Goldsmith design and brought the brand into the 21st century with CG Eyewear. The same quality that stood for three generations of Goldsmiths is still evident, as Claire Goldsmith is still just as selective when choosing the specialists and craftsmen who design her pieces as her great-grandfather was.

Occhiali Modern Optics is continuing its own tradition of style and quality by carrying CG Optical, a collection of eyeglasses that pays homage to vintage design with a modern twist. Learn more about Claire Goldsmith on her website and shop CG Optical in-store at Occhiali Modern Optics.
